How about a garden party the edubily way? You're wondering how that fits together? It might work better than you think ;-)
Let's imagine: we're sitting in the garden, with the grill and pool in the background, summer music playing. The smoky smell rises to our nose and the sun is just setting. Lovely.
And now the bratwurst on the plate? We have 4 tips for you on how to make your grilling evening even better from a nutritional perspective. The focus is on: protein.
Tip 1: A Moderate Protein Fast
You want to simply enjoy the evening and switch off? Let's burn some serious fat during the day and also clear the liver of fats.
To do this, we enter a negative fat balance by consuming pure protein during the day. This also increases your body's energy expenditure («thermic effect»). Any protein source works here: plant-based proteins, lean animal protein, or protein powder.
In the evening, you'll not only have plenty of room calorically for all kinds of shenanigans—the liver would also be more ready for a drink or two ;-)
Tip 2: Prioritize Protein
You've eaten normally during the day and don't want to go all out at the grilling party?
The key here is to eat smartly. Protein calories typically flow, even in high amounts, as building material into lean mass. Lean protein also satiates best of all macronutrients through complex modulation of our gut hormones.
So prioritize the grilled vegetables, salads, chicken breast, turkey, or vegan steak first, ideally with a side of potato salad.
Full dose of essential nutrients – check. Well satiated – check. Low calorie density – check. Less room in the body for nonsense – check.
Tip 3: Iced Protein Coffee
Did the meal turn out (too) indulgent? The dessert and pasta salad appealed to you more than the turkey steak? We can still salvage this a bit. For this, exceptionally ;-) an espresso shot is allowed.
Here's the deal: protein increases our energy expenditure («thermic effect»). We could use that right now. A dash of caffeine from the espresso amplifies the effect and acutely boosts fat burning.
Plus: Coffee polyphenols also inhibit digestive enzymes and thus reduce the amount of food energy that reaches, for example, our fat stores… :-)
Here's how: one large glass. Add some milk and/or water. Top with your choice of protein powder. Froth a bit or shake well in a shaker. Add a shot of espresso. Top with ice cubes. Stir once and enjoy.
Tip 4: A Clear Whey on the Side
Yeah, we know. Our good intentions often go down the drain on these evenings. It's summer, after all. That means we might have a drink or two.
